Charlottesville VA: Connectivity issue on legacy network after DHCP updates

Incident Report for Ting Internet

Identified

Related to an update to our DHCP system that took place yesterday, we have discovered a persistent issue that is causing services to some customers with legacy static IP's to go offline every 4-8 hours after renewal. This will mostly affect long-standing business customers in the Charlottesville core.

We have made adjustments to the DHCP configuration to mitigate symptoms but not all are retroactive; if an IP lease was acquired prior to the changes tonight the issue may occur again.

If your service was impacted by this and goes offline again, another reboot of your router and modem should be effective and keep it online for longer than previously. Our apologies for the inconvenience as we continue to work to modernize portions of the old fiber network in Charlottesville.
